Pop Up Slider Card

By Karen Gibson
Rubber Roadsters
Advanced Stamping Team Designer

Supplies:

  • Stamps (Treat Yourself Stampin’Up!)

  • Ink: Old Olive, Ruby Red, Basic Black, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie (Stampin’ Up!)

  • Close to Cocoa cardstock 4 ¼” x 5 ½”  (Stampin’ Up!)

  • White or other neutral card stock sizes:
    3 ¼” x 4 ¾” for pull out piece
    4 ¼” x 5 ½” for back of card

  • Paper cutter or craft knife

  • Adhesive

  • Bone folder or scoring blade

  • Ribbon

  • Corner rounder

  • 1” circle punch

  • ¼” punch

 Instructions:

1.    Stamp and color image for card front. Gumball machine was stamped in Basic Black and shaded using blender pen and watercolor pencil. Cut out image and set aside.

2.    Punch half of the 1” punch in the center of the stamped card front. This is so the recipient of the card can pull the pullout more easily.

3.    Turn card front over and mark with the following measurements: ¾” from the long sides and ¾” from both sort sides. Use the paper cutter or a craft knife to cut down the two short sides and the bottom of the card front. This will give you a flap. Across the top where the circle punch was used score ¾”. On the bottom of the flap score across ¼”. Also score one more time half the distance between the top and bottom scores. See Fig 1 for cutting and scoring placement.

4.    Round two corners of the 3 ¼” x 4 ¾” pullout piece. Punch a ¼” hole in the center at the top for the pull ribbon. Stamp a message on the pullout near the top so it will show when the piece is pulled.

5.    Adhere the bottom quarter of the flap to the bottom of the pullout piece. This will be the sliding mechanism for the pullout.

6.    Adhere the colored card front to the white card backing. Stamp or write a message in the window revealed by the pull out.

7.    Attach the stamped cutout image to the front, making sure to only put adhesive on the part that will stick to the section of the flap that is above the bottom quarter of the pullout.
