Pockets & Flaps
Pocketful of Posies Card

By: Stephanie Loomis

Mixed Media Team Designer

Supplies:

Stamps: Watercolor Flowers, Pressed Carnation (The Stamping Studio)
Brilliance Ink: Pearlescent Coral, Pearlescent Orange, Pearlescent
Yellow, Pearlescent Lavender (Tsukineko)
8” x 8” double-sided patterned cardstock in Mango plus one scrap (Die Cuts with a View)
Crop-a-Dile tool (We R Memory Keepers)
6 eyelets—two yellow, two blue, two green (Memory Makers)
18-24” Striped ribbon (Target)
Watercolor paper (Canson)
O’Glue Jr. Liquid gel glue (Itoya)

Instructions:

1.      Fold the 8” x 8” paper in half. Hold lengthwise and fold up corners to form pocket base.

2.      Use Crop-a-Dile tool to punch three holes on the center sides of the pocket folds. Use tool again to secure eyelets into holes.

3.      Weave ribbon through eyelets. Do not tie in a bow, but leave open at top.

4.      Cut scrap cardstock into ¼” strips of varying lengths. These will become flower stems.

5.      Cut another piece of scrap cardstock 1” x 3”. This will become the base to which the posies are attached.

6.      Stamp the flowers onto the watercolor paper with Brilliance inks. Cut out individual blossoms (The number of flowers is up to artist discretion).

7.      Glue blossom tops to stems and let dry completely. Reserve a few blossom heads.

8.      Glue reserved blossom heads to edge and front of pocket—as though the flowers are falling out.

9.      Glue most of the flowers to the scrap cardstock base and let dry. Photo 3

10.  Tuck flowers and base into pocket card. Secure with glue.

11.  Add remaining flowers so that they fill out the sides of the pocket.

12.  Sign your art.
