Pockets & Flaps
Scrap Cardstock Organizer

By: Regena

I store these Scrap card stock organizers in a box wide enough to hold the square envelopes.  A photo box would probably be suitable. Instead of folding them, how about hanging them with hooks on a pegboard?  Of course, at some point, you have to decide just how many scraps do you REALLY need!

Supplies:
Paper Texture Cube stamp (Stampendous)
Jubilee Big ‘n’ Little Dots stamp (Hero Arts)
Ancient Page inks - Coal Black and Cardinal Red (Clearsnap)
(3) 5¾” Square Envelopes - (Michaels)
1½ x 1” piece of coordinating scrap cardstock to match
1 Large eyelet
Crop-a-Dile Eyelet Setter and Punch (We R Memory Makers)
Bone Folder
Masking tape
HermaFix (Permanent) Tape Runner (EK Success)
Or Scotch Double stick tape (3M)
1½” Square punch (McGill)
30 - 36” Fiber or Ribbon (for tying closed)

Instructions:

1.      Lift the envelope flaps and run tape along the glue strip.  Lay them front side down with the glue strip facing up.  Attach the flap to the bottom front of each envelope.  NOTE:  If your envelopes have short flaps, you may want to punch out an ‘opening’ in the top edge to make it easier to get into.

2.      Attach masking tape to the center front of the entire length of the connected envelopes.  (This will be the side with the flaps attached). Do the same on the left side about ¾” from the edge.  Stamp one side of the textured cube with the Coal black ink repeatedly down the space between the masking tape.  This will create your border strip.

3.      Remove the tape on the left side and over-stamp the Jubilee dots with the Cardinal Red ink along the left edge of the first and last envelopes.   The middle (second) one will be the ‘front’ envy showing when it’s closed.   Stamp the dots on this one horizontally instead.  Punch a red square from a scrap piece and stamp with the texture cube. Attach ‘on point’ to the border right above the horizontal stamped dots as shown in the photo. It will be below the dots and on the right side when the organizer is closed.  This step will use a different color of ink and scrap square for each organizer to show which colors are being kept in it.

4.      Flip the whole thing over and stamp the Jubilee dots down the entire length of the right side this time using the coordinating color ink for the scraps.

5.      Attach the 1½ x 1” scrap piece under the center of the very first envelope flap leaving about ¼” showing.  This piece should be the same color as the punched and stamped square.  Attach a large eyelet to the center.  This is where you will tie the fiber or ribbon to hold the project closed.

6.      Fold the bottom up over the middle and fold both again over the top.  Run your fiber or ribbon through the eyelet, wrap around the folded envelopes, and tie in a bow.  You could, also, substitute a Velcro Square instead of tying it closed.  Just make sure you reinforce the center of the flap so it doesn’t rip from opening it.

7.      If you want to have more than three envelopes, you may want to do an accordion fold after you attach them together to find your front envelope to decorate.  Keep in mind though, with more than three, your top envelope flap will need to be large enough to cover all of them when you close it.  You could extend it with a piece of cardstock.
