Books
Paper Bag Book

By Peggie Wilkins
Rubber Roadsters
Advanced Stamping Team Designer

I made this book for a Spanish I class I took with my kids.  What fun it was to make – looking through all my old and new pictures finding just the right ones to describe who I am or as in Spanish “Quien Soy Yo?” There are pockets in this book to add lots of extra photos or keepsakes. Who would have thought a paper bag would make such a cute book.

I haven’t given specific measurements for the pages because your pictures will all be different sizes. I just tried to give you the instructions for some techniques that might not be apparent at first glance.

Supplies:
Ancient Alphabet Stamp Set (The Angel Company)
Doodle Stamp Set (The Angel Company)
Sew Fun Stamp Set (The Angel Company)
Noir Black Hybrid Palette Ink Pad (Stewart Superior)
4 Paper Lunch Bags
Prismacolor Pencils
Uptown Girl Paper (The Angel Company)
Various sizes of white cardstock (The Angel Company)
Lots of various ribbons
Various Brads (Memory Makers) in colors as seen throughout the project
Got Flowers? (Prima)
Stapler
1/8” Hole Punch (McGill)
Ό” Hole Punch (McGill)
1” Hole punch (McGill)
Pink Spiral Clip (The Angel Company)
Glue Dots (Zots)
Scotch Glue stick (3M)
Scotch Tape (3M)
Scotch Double Stick Tape (3M)

Instructions:

Title Page - Fold paper bags in half and line them up so that the folds all match.  Make four hole punches an inch apart and 1/2 inch in. Tie various 5” ribbons through the holes. I used two ribbons for each hole. Stamp title on paper and mount. Punch hole in corner with 1/8” hole punch and attach flower with brad.

Insert  Page - Punch two  – 1 inch circles out of decorative paper and apply one to each side of the 4 Ό” x 4 ½” card stock. This makes a tab to pull the insert page out of the pocket of the bag. Stamp butterfly from Doodles stamp set with Noir ink on decorative paper, cut out and adhere to paper. The insert page slides into the opening of the bag.

First Page - Adhere picture to paper then staple ribbon to picture, adhere this to another layer to create a border, and then adhere to bag.

Second Page - Adhere picture under the bottom of the bag and then decorate the journaling on the top of the bottom of the bag.

Third Page – Adhere bow with a glue dot.

(refer to remaining photos at the bottom of the document)

Fourth Page – Make strips of paper 1” by however wide your picture is and fold in half with a valley fold.  Adhere the picture to the bottom half of the fold and then to the base paper. Do this for however many pictures you want on this page. I did for four pictures – one for each of my children. In the bottom left hand corner of the picture, punch a 1/8” hole and through a piece of cardstock slightly smaller than the picture and attach them with a small brad. This way you can pull down the cardstock and journal about each picture.

Fifth Page – Decorate page and attach with spiral clip.

Sixth Page – Decorate page as desire; see photo for suggestions.

Insert Pages - Make two more insert pages as above – one for the sixth page and one for the seventh page.

Seventh Page – Stamp mouse and color with Prismacolor pencil. Adhere ribbons with staples. Punch holes in journaling cardstock and attach brads.

Eighth Page – Stamp butterfly from Doodles Stamp set , cut out and glue to papers. Staple journaling inside the paper bag but not through to the other side so another insert page can be put in.

Insert Page – Make another insert page.

Ninth Page – Using glue dots, adhere the flowers.

Tenth Page – Decorate page as desired; see photo for suggestions.

Eleventh Page – Decorate page as desired: see photo for suggestions.

Twelfth Page – Make small strips as on page four to adhere several pictures.

Thirteenth Page – Fold ribbons in half and tape to back of picture then adhere just the ribbons to the paper.

Fourteenth Page – Tie ribbon in overhand knot and adhere with glue dot.

I inserted a translation into my last pocket because I knew I wouldn’t remember what I wrote in Spanish years from now.
