My first love has always
been sewing so occasionally I like to use the sewing machine when I make cards.
There is so much you can do with a sewing machine to add interest to your cards.
You can add paper to paper or fiber to paper using a variety of stitches. In
this card I just made a straight stitch which adds detail as well as function.
Supplies:
Cream colored cardstock: cut 2: 4 1/4 x 5 ½, cut 1: 3 x 4 Ό, cut 1: Ύ x 2
½
Brocade from Urban Couture Collection (Basic Grey), cut 4 x 5
Rum Raisin from Urban Couture Collection (Basic Grey), cut 2 Ό x 4
Silk from Urban Couture Collection (Basic Grey), cut 3 Ό x 4 ½

Instructions:
1. Adhere brocade paper to 1
4 Ό x 5 cream card stock. Punch one half of a hole at top using 1 hole
punch. Punch a 1/8 hole at the side. Put the brad through the three layers of
flower petals and attach to card layer.
2. Put the other 4 Ό x 5
cream card stock on the back of the above layer and using a straight stitch sew
around the three sides of the card, leaving the top where the hole is punched
open. Bring the top thread to the back and tie the bottom and top threads
together, then tape them down.
3. Stamp hello with noir black palette ink onto the Ύ x 2 ½ cream cardstock.
Use rounded corner punch on all four corners to make oval. Adhere to silk tag.
4. Turn silk tag over and trace rounded corners on each of the four corners of
the rum raisin paper. Cut all corners. Adhere silk tag to rum raisin paper and
punch 1/8 holes through the tag holes.

5. Fold both of the red
fibers in half and put one in each of the tag
holes and bring the ends through the loop and tighten. Now adhere
the tag to the card and wrap the fibers to the back, taping in place.
The pocket is now complete.
6. Color the butterfly stamp with the watercolor crayons. Hold the
stamp about 12 away and mist twice with water, then stamp on the bottom of the
3 x 4 Ό cream cardstock. Adhere to silk paper. Adhere the two circles one on
the front of the insert and one on the back of the insert leaving about ½
hanging off the top. Punch 1/8 hole in the middle of the circles. Attach fibers
in the same way as before.
7. Put insert into pocket.
