Rubber Band Backgrounds

By Lori Ronnerud
Magic Stampin’ Bus
Newbies Stamping Team Designer

Rubber bands wrapped around an acrylic roller can make very interesting backgrounds. You can make as many “passes” as you wish to get the coverage you desire. I went straight across for these samples but you can go diagonally as well. Experiment and have fun!

Supplies:

Vertical saying from Birthday stamp set (TAC ~ retired)
Under the Sea stamp set (TAC)
Blue Breeze Kaleidacolor ink pad (Tsukineko)
VersaMark ink pad (Tsukineko)
White Glossy cardstock, 5˝” x 8˝“, fold in half with the glossy side out (TAC)
Fabrico markers (Tsukineko)
Rubber bands, varying sizes/widths (unknown)
Black Detail embossing powder (Ranger)
Foam frames (ProvoCraft)
Confetti, fish theme (Unknown)
Heat Gun (Milwaukee)
Brayer with acrylic roller (Speedball)

Instructions:

1. Wrap rubber bands around the acrylic roller. You want them to twist and overlap, but, also, have some gaps.

2. Ink up brayer on K-pad. Cover card front with ink, repeating as necessary to get the coverage you want. Let dry for 5 minutes.

3. Stamp images as desired on the top part of foam frame with Noir Black ink pad. Lightly heat set. Color in images with Fabrico markers in desired colors.

4. Place bottom of foam frame as desired onto the brayered cardstock. Add some confetti, but not too much or they won’t “float” around. Place acetate over frame opening. Attach top of frame to bottom part.

5. Stamp saying and emboss with black detail embossing powder. Heat to set.
