Magnetic Scrapbook Easel

By Michele Thompson
Off Road Inksters
Intermediate Scrampers Team Designer

These easels are so fun because you can alter them in lots of different ways! You can cover them with paper, paint them or distress them; the possibilities are endless! I’ve chosen to cover mine with paper for this project.

Supplies:

Magnetic easel (Andrea’s Scraps)
Pattern Paper (Basic Grey – Fusion)
Cardstock (Bazzill)
Walnut Distress Ink (Ranger)
Fibers (Shoebox Trims)
Chipboard Letters (Heidi Swapp)
Charms (unknown)
Silk Flowers (Prima)
Red Line Tape
Hot Glue Gun
Glue Dots

Instructions:

1. Choose paper to cover your easel. The easel comes with 4 super-strength magnets, so you may use several layers without worry of your project being too heavy.

2. Flip paper over and trace easel onto backside of the paper. Allow about an extra ¼” around the top and sides to fold over the back to give you a clean edge.

3. Trim paper. Use a strong adhesive to attach your paper to the easel – I chose red-line tape. Apply the tape along all edges and then a strip on the back on each of the edge.

4. Adhere paper to the easel, being careful to leave the extra ¼” inch along the top and sides of the easel. The bottom of the paper should align with the bottom of the easel before it turns under. Miter top corners and fold the paper over the top and sides of the easel adhering it to the back to giving you a clean edge on the front. You may either leave the back the way it is or cover it with another piece of paper for a nicer finish.

5. Sand chipboard letters (they were a light purple color to begin with) and distress them with the Distress Ink Pad. Glue the letters to the bottom of easel.

6. Choose photo and print. I selected a 4” x 6” photo landscape format. Mat photo as desired.

7. Choose fibers and tie them onto the easel.

8. Choose fun charms that go with your page. I used a hot glue gun to apply the charms to the super-strength magnets that came with the easel. Then I used the magnets to hold my photo on. This allows me to easily change photos if I want to.

9. Adhere Prima flowers in the top corner using glue dots or your adhesive choice.

Now you have a fun way of displaying photos and a cute scrapbook page!
