Use different color combinations to create great faux layers. This is a
wonderful way to add dimension when you don’t have a lot of paper/card stock or
you don’t want to add weight and thickness to a card.
Supplies:
World with Music stamp set (TAC)
Orangerie Hybrid Palette Ink (Superior)
Sunflower Hybrid Palette Ink (Superior)
Black Noir Hybrid Palette Ink (Superior)
10” x 7” cream card stock
Sponge wedges
Chalk Pastels
Chalk applicator
Post-It® Notes
Watercolor Markers (Tombow)
Instructions:
I used different colored post-it notes in my photos to help distinguish each of
my steps. The pink is my base layer, then the blue, lastly the purple. Think of
them as pink = layer #1, blue = layer #2, and purple = layer #3.
1. Fold card stock in half to create an A7 size card (5” x 7”).

2. Put the first square post-it in the center of your card front. Position the
second square in the upper left corner, overlapping the center square slightly.
Repeat with the last square in the lower right corner (see example).

3. Using one of your sponge wedges, sponge the entire background with yellow
ink.

4. Stamp the musical notes in orange onto the yellow background.
5. Remove #2 & #3 post-it masks.
6. Sponge the entire surface with orange. Go lightly, you don’t want to make it
too dark.

7. Using the chalk applicator, go around two sides of layer #1 post-it with
light gray chalk.
8. Put post-it #2 & #3 back into place. Chalk the same two edges of these layers
with the light gray chalk.

9. Remove all the masks. Stamp the sax
player in the center of the first faux layer with black.
10. Use the old post-it notes to mask off the right edge of layer #1 and stamp
the music coming out of the saxophone in orange. Stamp the words on the other
side of the sax player.
11. Color in the image with markers. Remove all masks.
