Instructions
:

1.      Prepare the chipboard covers:  Take one chipboard coaster and color the board red by applying a coat of VersaMagic Red Magic Ink.  Let dry and give the board a coat of the cardinal ink. Do this procedure on both sides.  Take one red 5” cardstock square and glue to one side with the glue stick.  This will be the back of the front cover. Use the other chipboard square for the scrapbook back.  Paint both sides and edges with the Hauser Green Paint and a sponge brush.  Let dry.  Glue one 5” green square scrapbook paper to one side.  Then glue one 5” red square scrapbook paper to the inside back cover. Round the edges with scissors.

2.      Refer to photo and punch the holes in the cover with a Crop-a-dile.  The measurements are:  3/8” in from the side at 1”, 2½” and 4” increments. Set aside.

3.      Make The Bargello Technique Cover:  On the 5” White square, mark a diagonal across the paper.  Refer to pattern and draw a line from corner to corner and then from the other corners.  Mark increment of 11/16” on the line.  This is the guide for placing the paper strips. Use the 10 paper strips that have been cut and scored.  Arrange the strips on the piece of paper.  Start at the top right corner to glue them down.  The fold should be at the top right corner.  Apply the glue to the white paper and pressed the paper strip in place overlapping the loose edge.  Apply the next strip in the same manner.   The ends of strips need to be cut to fit the chipboard as you do the technique.  Complete all 10 strips and let the glue dry.  Turn the paper over and trim the strips along the background square.  Glue the Bargello Technique Paper onto the front chipboard cover.  Round the edges by trimming along the chipboard with scissors.

4.      Crop the photograph to a 2Ύ” square.  Attach the photograph on top of the finished Bargello front cover.  Create a contrasting border for the photo by cutting strips of paper from the leftover designs from the Vintage Holiday Collection.  This cover uses the red stripe from the red and green stripe paper.  Cut the strips 5/8”, score at 1/4”, fold, and miter the edges.  Glue 2 strips along the left and right sides of the photograph.  Be sure the strips are even.  Place the top strip on top of the photograph and mark a diagonal line with a stylus.  Trim the paper to fit.  Glue the strip in place.

5.      Stamp the Happy Holidays Scrapbook title on a 1’ strip of left over white paper.  Stamp the saying with the Red Magic Ink.  Stamp the tree and wreath with the Jardin Moss Palette Ink.  Color the images with the red, green and gold colored pencils.  Trim the saying with scissors and touch up the white paper with a small piece of sponge and use all the colors of ink pads.  Glue in place under the photograph.

6.      Make the Back Cover.  Use the same techniques that have been used on the front.  Start with the 3Ύ” white paper square.  Refer to photo and draw the diagonal lines.  Mark the placement lines at 1/2”.  Cut paper strips 5 1/2” by 3/4”.  Score at 1/4” intervals and fold.  Glue the strips in place.  Stamp the saying Happy Holidays on a small piece of white paper.  Stamp the wreath and render color with colored pencils; touch up the saying with the red marker.   Glue the wreath and saying on top of Bargello paper.  Frame the paper with a red frame.  Cut red strips 5/8”, score at 1/4” and 4 1/4” from the red and green paper.  Glue to the background and miter the edges.

7.      Decorate the inside pages with the left over papers.  A 4” square will fit each.  Assemble the inside pages.  Alternate with red and green papers and insert them between the covers.  Mark the position of the holes and punch with the Crop-a-dile.

8.      Insert the Loose Leaf Rings through the front cover, the inside pages, and back cover.

9.      Tie on the assorted ribbons.

Your Holiday Bargello Scrapbook is complete.  Use your favorite Holiday photo inside.  The Bargello technique can be on small areas of scrapbook pages or cards.
