Explosion Box Card

By: Gail Genskay
Crafty Cruisers
Intermediate Stamping Team Designer

There is nothing I like more than an impressive looking project that is easy to make, and this awesome explosion box is just that!  What adds to the appeal is that you can make these wonderful little box cards with only basic supplies!

Have fun giving … and then receiving the compliments afterward!

Supplies:
Grand Bouquet Stamp Set (TAC # R-105)
Happy Birthday Stamp from Swirly Sayings (TAC # R-2010)
Palette Hybrid Ink Pad Noir Black (Stewart Superior)
Pink Passion Ink pad (Stampin’ Up!)
8 ¼” X 8 ¼” White CS
2 ¾” X 2 ¾” White CS
1” X 1” White CS
4 ½” X 4 ½” Hot Pink CS
Assorted Bright Markers (Impress & Tombow)
Pop Dots (All Night Media)
Red Liner or Wonder Tape
Scissors
Paper Cutter
Paper Scorer

2’6” of ¾ inch Sheer White Ribbon (Stampin’ Up!)

Directions:

1.      Score the 8 ¼” X 8 ¼” White CS at 2 ¾” & 5 ½.”

2.      Turn your CS and score at 2 ¾” & 5 ½.”

3.      There will be 9 equal squares (See photo).

4.      Score the four corner squares diagonally from the outside corner in towards the middle square as shown (see photo).  Do NOT score the center square.

5.      Score the Hot Pink CS at ¾” and 3 ¾.”

6.      Turn the CS and score at ¾” and 3 ¾.”

7.      On two opposite sides, cut the vertical score lines until they intersect with the horizontal ones (see photo).

8.      Apply Red Liner tape to the back side of the small tabs that you just created and adhere to inside of the box to make the lid.

9.      Stamp the bouquet from Grand Bouquet on all sides of the outside of the box as shown. Make sure that you leave at least ¾” above the area that you stamp so it is not covered by the lid. The entire bouquet image will not be visible.  TIP: Use a Post-it note to cover the middle square when stamping your images.

10.  Color the image with bright colored Markers.

11.  Turn the CS over and randomly stamp the tulips and bee from the set around the perimeter and color with your markers.

12.  Stamp the bouquet exactly centered on your 2 ¾” X 2 ¾” white CS and color with bright colored markers.

13.  Cut out the bouquet.

14.  Apply the cut out bouquet to the center of the inside of the box with pop dots as shown.

15.  Stamp “Happy Birthday” with Pink Passion Ink as shown.

16.  Stamp and color the Bee from the Grand Bouquet Set as shown.

17.  Stamp the Bee again on your 1” X 1” CS, color, and cut out.

18.  Make Box by folding all corners in.  TIP: fold all corners in the same direction.

19.  Put on the lid.

20.  Wrap sheer ribbon around box and make a bow.

21.  Add cut out bee with a small piece of red liner tape.
