Christmas Wall Hanging

By: Bea Rosenleaf

Create this easy wall hanging from chipboard coasters, and you've got a quick and unique gift for any special friend or family member.

Supplies:
Silhouette Nativity Stamp Set (The Angel Co.)
Faith, Love, Hope Stamp Set (The Angel Co.)
4 Chipboard Coasters (American Coaster Co.)
Paper:  Winchester Paper Collection (The Angel Co.)
Purple Ribbon: Winchester Fibers Collection (The Angel Co.)
Black Embossing Powder (unknown)
Silver Embossing Powder (unknown)
Versamagic Ink Pad (Tsukineko)
Silver Leafing Pen (Krylon)
4" Oval Punch (1 Stop Shop)
12 Jump Rings (Michael's)
Hole Driller (Carl)
YES! Glue
Zots Pop Dots (Michaels)

Instructions:

1.  Choose the papers you would like to use for the project from the paper collection. This collection consists of unique patterned papers and Bazzill cardstock.  Cut pieces you chose into 4” x 4” squares. You will need 8 4” x 4” squares total for the project. 4 squares will be the base on each coaster, and 4 squares will be used for layering.

2.  Apply the squares to the chipboard coasters with Yes! Glue. I used a sponge brush that can be thrown away when done with the project.

3.  While the squares are drying, tear the layering paper pieces. To give your project interest, make sure your tears are jagged. This will give the appearance of land and sky. Tip: Make sure your tear will fit the coaster to accommodate the stamped images.

4.  For the 1st square, use the star background in the Silhouette Nativity set, ink up with the Versamagic ink pad and stamp onto the piece of patterned paper you chose for the ‘sky’. Sprinkle with silver embossing powder, shake of excess, and heat to melt. When cool, attach this to the coaster.  Take the palm tree stamp, ink with the Versamagic ink pad and stamp on the coaster.  Sprinkle with black embossing powder and heat the images with heat gun until powder is melted. When cool, use the silver leafing pen and outline the coaster.

5.  For the 2nd square, punch out an oval from selected paper. Ink the manger stamp with Versamagic ink pad, and stamp in the center of the oval.  Sprinkle with black embossing powder and shake off excess. Heat image until powder melts. Attach oval to the square and outline the square with the silver leafing pen.

6.  For the 3rd square, tear patterned paper you chose for the sky and repeat the sky image as in step 4. Again, make sure your tear accommodates the stamped image.  Attach this piece to the top of the coaster. Stamp the shepherds with the Versamagic ink.  Sprinkle with black embossing powder, shake off excess, and heat to melt the powder. When cool, outline with the silver leafing pen.

7.  For the 4th square, take the piece of paper you chose for the top layer and tear the middle out of the square. This will give you a top and bottom layer. Curl the torn edges to give the layers some interest. Stamp ‘Merry Christmas’ and the palm tree in the middle of the square with the Versamagic ink pad. Tip: lay the top layer on the coaster to give you an idea of where to stamp the images.  Sprinkle with black embossing powder, shake off excess, and heat with the heat gun until melted.

8.  Stamp the angel on a piece of yellow scrap with the Versamagic ink pad.   Sprinkle with black embossing powder, shake off excess, and heat with the heat gun until melted. Trim the angel out, leaving a small frame of yellow around her. Attach to the coaster with Zots 3-D Pop Dots. (refer to picture for placement). Outline the coaster with the silver leafing pen.

9.  Attach two jump rings between each coaster. To open the jump rings, do not pull apart, or you will cause them to be misshapen. Instead, hold one side with a pair of jewelry pliers and then either using another pair of pliers, or your fingers, move the other side of the ring to the side. This will give you enough room to slip the coaster into the ring. Bring the ring back together in the same manner as you moved them apart.

10. Cut a piece of ribbon about 12” long. Slip the ribbon into each hole and knot on the back side of the top coaster.
