Quick Fillers & Backgrounds

By Rita Kegg,

Supplies

Quick Fillers (TAC)
Quick Background Blocks (TAC)
Tag Tidbits  (TAC)
Sophisticated Sentiments  (TAC)
Noir Dye Ink Pad (Tac)
Boudoir Blush Dye Ink Pad (Tac)
Watercolor Crayons (Lyra~*Tac)
Half sheet White Ultra Smooth Card Stock (Tac)
Water Brush (Royal~*Tac)
Acrylic Handle 1” by 7” inch (Tac)

Instructions

1.    Fold white card in half and crease.  The card is stamped in the horizontal direction.

2.    Stamp the Quick Background Block Square in black about an inch from the bottom of the cards opening.

3.    Stamp the Quick Filler Circles using Boudoir Blush on each side of the square, but not in the square.

4.    Stamp the bold square using Boudoir Blush in the square lining it up over the back square so you cannot see any of the black image.  At this point, stamp down and the stamped image will be in the square!

5.    Select your greeting from one of the 36 different words in Tag Tidbits.  Stamp inside of the black square over the bold stamped pink square using Noir.

6.    Stamp one of the Sophisticated Sentiments ladies in Noir on the left side of the card.

7.    Using your water brush and a pink watercolor crayon, pick up a little of the color from the bottom of the crayon.  Color on the left side of her shirt first and then smooth the color over to the right without adding more color.  This will give it a shaded appearance.  Next, color the top of her dress with more color for a darker tone.

8.    Using a dark gray crayon, pick up a little of the color from the bottom and give the image a shadow underneath.  This is easily done by moving your hand back and forth under the image a few times and then touching lightly down on the paper.  You should end up with variations in shades of gray when done like this.

Ten other ways to use Quick Fillers (QF) and Quick Background Blocks (QBB)

1.    Construct stripes with QF using one or more different colors of ink.

2.  Form stripes using more than one of the QF (see diagram).

3.    Create plaids by stamping images both horizontally and vertically with the QF.

4.    Fashion stripes or plaids to go on the diagonal of the paper (see samples).

5.    Use the QF partially down on the card at different levels.

6.    Color in parts of the QF or the QBB.

7.    Add words in various ways with the QF.  (See diagram.)

8.    Add a Bauble Epoxy Sticker over the shape of the QBB (see purple sample).

9.    Devise a frame with the QF with one or more of the images.

10.   Use the QF which is a long line and dot as a border around a card or scrapbook page.
