Ranger Perfect Pearls ~ By Candle Light
By
Terri Doney Supplies: Technique: It is really amazing what you can do with a stamp, Perfect Pearls from Ranger and a brayer. The scans of these projects don’t really do them justice as you can never truly scan the glimmering characteristics, that shimmer, that look that makes you think of fine spun linen with gold. If you have never tried Perfect Pearls, it is definitely a must. The look is absolutely stunning. 1. To create the background of the By Candle Light page, I selected Christmas Green paper from the Neenah Paper Company in linen weave. 2. Use a rubber brayer and the medium to make the plaid. First run the brayer over the medium and make sure that the brayer has quite a bit of the medium on it. Then, run it in diagonal stripes across the paper. After each stripe, put more medium on the brayer. Only do one direction of stripes at a time. After you have one set of stripes of medium on the page, gently brush Perfect Pearls Lime over the diagonal medium stripes. Once you have all the color added, use a dry paper towel to wipe off the excess. Don’t worry about wiping off the powder over the medium; it will not come off. Now repeat with the medium diagonal stripes in the other direction and brush on the Real Red. Again wipe off the excess powder. When your background is done, spray a light coating of workable fixative on it. I do this for added protection though the Ranger Company says that it is not necessary. 3. I put the background aside at this point and cut my Neenah red linen cardstock with the gold color cutters. It is impossible to tell you how to cut your paper with the color cutter because you can do it anyway you choose. I chose to do wavy cuts. You’ll notice that color cutters not only cut, but also leave a wonderful colored edge that is exactly the same all along the edge. There is no mistake-making here. I, also, use the color cutter to do my title “ornament”. Once I had all the pieces I wanted cut with the color cutter, I stamped them with the TAC Poinsettia stamp in a random pattern with the Perfect Pearls Medium. Next, I brushed on Lime Perfect Pearls over the images. Again, once you get all the color on, take a dry paper towel and wipe off the extras and spray it with workable fixative. 4. Take these pieces and put them on your layout in whatever pattern you have designed using the double-sided tape. 5. The poinsettia overlaying embellishments were created by stamping the poinsettia stamp on plain white cardstock with graphite black Brilliance ink and then coloring them in with brush markers. The centers of the images were dotted with the gold color cutter tip. When they were dry, I cut out and attached them with double-sided tape to my layout in a pleasing manner. With photos and journaling, my layout is complete. I hope you will take the time to investigate and use Perfect Pearls from Ranger. They are lovely!
