Crinkled Chalk Ink Backgrounds

Ronda Sydnor (The Queen of Simply Elegant)
Magic Stampin’ Bus
Newbies Stamping Team Designer

Using chalk inkpads and crumpled plastic wrap can add a dramatic backdrop to any stamped design.  It creates appealing texture and interesting color schemes.  For insight on color combinations, visit a local hardware store or Wal-Mart and pick up some paint chip samples.  These make excellent color scheme references!

Supplies

•  Luscious Leaves (TAC)
•  Trendy Greetings (TAC)
•  War Paint Chalk Pad (TAC)
•  Pueblo Chalk Pad (TAC)
•  Native Land Chalk Pad (TAC)
•  Black Beauty Ink Pad (TAC)
•  Plastic Wrap
•  Brown Cardstock; 2 pieces; cut to size:
          (1) 8-1/2”x5-1/2” to make a folded card
          (1) 3-1/8”x3-1/8”

•  White Matte Cardstock; 2 pieces; cut to size:
          (1) 5-1/4”x4”
          (1) 3”x3”

•  Ribbon; 3 pieces; cut to 2” each (American Crafts Elements)
•  3 brads coordinating with your inks
•  Pushpin
•  Easy Stick Double Stick Adhesive Runner (Henkel/Duck)
•  Paper to cover work surface

Instructions

1.        Lay both pieces of white cardstock on paper covered work surface.

2.        Wad plastic wrap in a loose ball, pounce onto your lightest color of chalk pad, then pounce onto both pieces of cardstock, continue until desired coverage is achieved. Repeat with the other two colors of chalk ink; just use a different section of the plastic wrap with each color.

3.        On the 3x3 piece of chalked cardstock, ink up and stamp leaf from Luscious Leaves using Black Beauty, and adhere it to the 3-1/8”x3-1/8” piece of brown cardstock. Set aside.

4.        Adhere 5-1/4”x4” piece of chalked cardstock to the front of the brown card. Using Black Beauty, ink up and stamp Happy Harvest onto the bottom right hand corner of the chalked card.

5.        Using pushpin, poke 3 holes into layered leaf on the right hand side at ½” intervals apart. Push brads through ribbon and layered image, set brads.

6.        Adhere layered leaf image in upper left hand corner of card.

A Simply Elegant card is completed!
