Embellished Border Title
By
Nancy West Johnson Titles don’t have to be at the top of the page…why not try incorporating them into a border! When I got these stamps in my January 2005 Club Scrap kit, I immediately thought of every kid’s first joke. It was perfect for a page about my granddaughter who had just learned it and told it every chance she could! I have a wee confession to make, though…I made the scrapbook page first and then cornered her for the photo to go with it. <grin!> Supplies: • “Mosaic Twist”
kit Stamps (Club Scrap) Instructions: 1. Cut one 12”x3” strip of dark blue paper. Ink the edges with black ink. 2. Adhere
ribbon to the middle of the strip wrapping the ends to the back. Set aside. 3. Using the illustration as a guide, ink all the edges of the tags and label holders with Green or Navy Blue ink. Set aside. 4. Measure the printable space on the two large tags, inserts of the label holders, and the 1” circles. Type the text in Microsoft Word or your favorite word processing program, making sure it stays within the size boundary of the item you’re working on. Print on yellow cardstock. 5. Cut out the text blocks and ink the edges. Set aside. 6. Use a 1” circle punch to punch out the circles for the bottle caps. Ink the edges with Tangerine ink. Set aside. 7. Adhere text blocks to tag fronts and label holder backs. Set aside. 8. Adhere tiles to the tags and add fibers. Set aside. 9. Flatten the bottle caps with a rubber mallet. 10. Adhere the punched out circles to the bottle caps and coat them lightly using LBDD Wet Looks. Let dry. 11. Stamp “Orange Slice” stamp in Tangerine ink on a piece of yellow cardstock. 12. Stamp “Orange You Glad” saying in black on the right side. Edge with Tangerine ink and then again with a thin line of black. 13. Using the illustration as a guide, lay all the pieces onto the navy blue strip and adhere. Use Pop Dots to adhere the bottle caps. 14. Place the label holders on the navy blue strip and use a stylus or needle to poke matching holes through strip and insert brads. 15. Adhere the
punched out holes from the tags to the center of the brads using Wet Looks
Adhesive and apply a light coating to the tops. Let dry. 16. Adhere the completed embellished strip to the 12x12” background paper. 17. Cut photo mats from yellow (5 ½” x 7 ½”) and teal (5 ¼” x 7 ¼”) cardstock. Ink all edges with complementary colors and adhere together. 18. Center 5x7” photo on the stacked mats and adhere. 19. Type secondary page title and date, print on transparency, and let dry. Trim, center under photo, and attach with staples.
