Faux Magic Mesh             Sea Card  ◊  Ship Collage Card

 ◊  Violin Card

Have you ever tried the product on the market called Magic Mesh?  Isn’t it great how it just sticks to your project without using adhesive?  The only drawback of it for me is the expense and limited amount I can purchase.  Well, now you can have a whole lot of something very similar.  It’s drywall tape, which you can find, at any hardware store (Farm & Fleet, Home Depot, Menards, etc.). The real bonus is you can use your inkpad to make it match your project or emboss it! You can, also, attach “things” to the drywall tape such as tags, beads, fibers, lures.  Have fun creating your own special faux magic mesh.

Sea Card

Supplies:

•  Under The Sea stamp set (TAC)
•  Tag Tidbits stamp set (TAC)
•  White glossy cardstock; ½ Sheet (5½” x 8½”)
•  Blue Breeze Kaleidacolor ink pad (Tsukineko)
•  VersaMark (Tsukineko)
•  Noir Black Palette Hybrid Ink (Stewart Superior)
•  Brayer (Sanford)
•  Clear Embossing Powder (Ranger)
•  Heat Gun (Milwaukee)
•  Drywall Tape

Instructions:

1.    Fold white glossy cardstock in half to make a folded card.  Stamp several fish images using VersaMark ink.  Cover with clear embossing powder.  Heat to melt the embossing powder.

2.    Stamp several more fish images using VersaMark.  Allow to dry.

3.    Ink up your brayer with the Blue Breeze Kaleidacolor inkpad.  Apply color to the stamped cardstock.  You may want to apply several layers of color to make it more intense.

4.    Take a paper towel and buff the embossed images to remove the ink.

5.    Cut a 5” length of drywall tape.  You can, also, make it wavy if desired. Attach to stamped card.  Trim off excess.

6.    Stamp saying onto upper left corner above the faux magic mesh using Noir Black Palette ink.

Ship Collage Card

Supplies:

•  Ship Collage stamp (TAC)
•  Tag Tidbits stamp set (TAC)
•  Light Blue cardstock; ½ Sheet (5½” x 4Ό”)
•  Piece of light blue cardstock (2 5/8 “ x 3 ½”)
•  Piece of Blithe paper from Black Tie Collection (Basic Grey)
•  VersaMark (Tsukineko)
•  Noir Black Palette Hybrid Ink (Stewart Superior)
•  Mono Adhesive (Tombow)
•  Drywall Tape
•  Oval Tags (Making Memories)
•  Silver Brad (Making Memories)
•  1/8” hole punch using the Click-It tool (Karen Foster)
•  Deckle Scissors (Fiskars)

Instructions:

1.    To color your dry wall tape, place on a piece of plastic. I like to use the lid of a box my stamps come in.  Rub the Noir Black inkpad over the dry wall tape.  This will need a bit of time to dry before handling. You can use a heat gun to speed up the drying time.

2.    Fold light blue cardstock in half.

3.    Attach Blithe paper to folded cardstock (3½“ x 4Ό“).

4.    Stamp image on piece of light blue cardstock with Noir Black ink. Trim with deckle scissors.

5.    Stamp saying on oval tag using Noir Black Palette ink.

6.    Attach colored drywall tape to folded cardstock.

7.    Using MonoAdhesive, attach stamped image to the card.

8.    Place oval tag where you want it and mark the hole with a pencil.  Punch hole using the Click-It tool.

9.    Attach oval tag with silver brad.

Violin Card

Supplies:

•  Violin Collage stamp  (TAC)
•  Tag Tidbits stamp set (TAC)
•  Black cardstock; ½ Sheet (5½” x 4Ό”)
•  White Vellum (3” x 4”)
•  VersaMark (Tsukineko)
•  Noir Black Palette Hybrid Ink (Stewart Superior)
•  Starlight Silver Brilliance Ink (Tsukineko)
•  Gold, Silver & Copper Embossing Powder (Ranger)
•  Heat Gun (Milwaukee)
•  Vellum Tape (Scotch 3M)
•  Drywall Tape

Instructions:

1.    Fold black cardstock in half.

2.    Cut a 6” strip of drywall tape.  Place on plastic lid and cover with VersaMark. Apply the drywall tape to your cardstock. Trim off excess Cover with embossing powder in your choice of color.  Heat to melt the embossing powder.

3.    Stamp Violin image onto vellum with Noir Black.  Let dry then tear edges. Attach to card with vellum tape.

4.    Stamp saying onto bottom right corner using Starlight Silver Brilliance ink.
