Instructions

1.    Spray music patterned paper with walnut ink to age and use heat tool to dry.  Set aside.

2.    To create packing tape transfer choose an image printed on glossy paper (Violin image was from TAC catalog – Music Speaks set).  Cover the image with clear packing tape.  Cut out image and place into pan of water.  Allow to sit 1-2 minutes then use fingers to gently rub off paper.  The transferred image will remain on the tape.  Transferred images can be altered using markers or paints.  The violin was painted with brown metallic Pearl-Ex paint on the BACK.  The shimmery effect of the paint shows through the tape.

3.    To create polished stone randomly draw streaks across a piece of 8 ½ x 11 white glossy cardstock using the Krylon Gold Leafing Pen.  Soak a cotton ball with alcohol and then add 2 drops of Butter Cream reinker and one drop of Cowboy Boots reinker.  Dab over entire surface of glossy cardstock repeatedly until the leafing pen begins to dissolve and create “veins” in the faux marble.  If desired, spray finished marble with a fixative (I don’t usually find this is a necessary step when using the leafing pen in place of the traditional metallic pigment reinkers).

4.    Stamp music speaks verse repeatedly onto ivory parchment vellum using gray inkpad to create background paper.

5.    Mount photo onto a piece of gold cardstock approximately 1/2” larger than the photo on all sides.

6.    Cut small photo corners from walnut inked music background paper and mount to all corners of photo.

7.    6.Mount photo with gold mat onto stamped ivory parchment paper so that approximately ¾” remains on all sides creating a second mat.

8.    Measure in 2” from all sides of faux marble paper and cut out center portion to create a frame.  Set center aside.  Mount photo with stamped parchment vellum onto polished stone frame.

9.    Mount a piece of the walnut inked music background paper to the upper left corner and lower right corner of the faux marble frame leaving approximately ¾” as a mat.

10.           Mount onto center of 12x12 brown cardstock.

11.           To create “title block”, mount packing tape transfer image onto polished stone using a clear adhesive.

12.           Cut a mat from gold cardstock for the piece created in step 8.  I cut mine so  approximately ¼” above and below the polished stone piece shows.

13.           Mount onto a piece of walnut inked music background paper creating a ¼” mat on all sides.

14.           Add decorative square brad and tassel to finished block.  Mount at an angle over the upper right edge of the focal image.

Note:  The photo was altered using Paint Shop Pro Version 8.  It was scanned then converted to sepia tones and printed onto HP Premium Photo Paper using an HP DeskJet Printer.

And now….. let the music speak!
