Pounced Pearl Ex Backgrounds

By Stephanie Loomis
Crafty Cruisers
Intermediate Stamping Team Designer

This technique is adapted from one I learned from my friend, Melissa Cash.

Supplies:

Christmas Collage Stamp Set (TAC, The Angel Company)
Inexpensive plastic wrap
Chalk ink pads, three coordinating colors (TAC)
VersaMark Ink Pad (Tsukineko)
Black India Archival Dye Ink Pad (TAC)
Pearl Ex (Jacquard)
Glossy card stock; cut to size: 4”x 5¼” (Xpedx)
Cardstock for folded card; cut to size: 5½”x8½”
Large brush for dusting Pearl Ex (Royal)
Bone Folder (TAC)
MonoAdhesive (TomBow)

Directions:

  1. Wad up a smallish piece of plastic wrap and use as an applicator tool for inks.
  2. Using the LIGHTEST color of a chalk ink pad, pick up color from pad with wadded plastic wrap.  Pounce randomly onto card stock.
  3. Repeat steps one and two with second and third ink colors.
  4. Let dry for a few minutes—or heat set if you’re in a hurry.
  5. Repeat step one and pick up ink from a VersaMark  pad.  Completely pounce the entire surface of the glossy card stock.
  6. Dust Pearl Ex over the stamped VersaMark ink and allow to dry.
  7. Ink and stamp image using Black India Ink.
  8. Fold a half sheet of cardstock with a bone folder and attach the card front to it using MonoAdhesive.

Voila!!!  This background creates a stunning background for your holiday cards!
