Flower Cork Memo Board

By Stephanie Loomis
Crafty Cruisers
Intermediate Stamping Team Designer

This is a great use of the unexpected and a terrific way to use up paper scraps.

Supplies:

•  Squiggle Ladybugs (The Angel Company)
•  Palette Burnt Umber (Stewart Superior)
•  Scrap paper from Sublime collection (Basic Grey)
•  Salmon cardstock scraps (Bazzill)
•  Mustard cardstock scraps (Bazzill)
•  Ivory heavy paper or cardstock (for back of board)
•  Cork trivet (IKEA—package of 3 for $1.99)
•  Personal Die Cutting system (Sizzix)
•  Tags die (Sizzix)
•  Circle Maker (Creative Memories cutting system)
•  Copper mini brads
•  YES glue
•  14” salmon colored yarn
•  Page Pebbles or other glass globs
•  Scissors
•  Circle punch ½”
•  Dimensional Magic (Plaid)
•  E6000 glue
•  Thumbtacks

Instructions:

Flower Memo Board:

1.    Cut circle from Ivory paper to cover one side of the trivet. Set aside.

2.    Use the Sizzix die cutter to cut 16 tags: 4 in salmon Bazzil, 4 in mustard Bazzil, 8 in Basic Grey Sublime. (The beauty of Basic Grey is that all the patterns within a collection coordinate, so you can use scraps from several sheets.)  These tags will become the flower petals.

3.    Stamp ladybugs and sentiment on trivet and one to three of the Bazzil tags.

4.    Add copper brads to the tags.

5.    Lay tags out around the edges of the Ivory circle. Alternation patterned and Bazzil paper as shown.  Attach with a touch of YES glue.

6.    Apply a thin layer of YES glue to back of cork trivet.  Place yarn in a loop on glue.

7.    Attach circle with petals to trivet so that the yard and petal bottom edges are sandwiched between the trivet and the ivory circle.  YES glue is forgiving, so rearrange and straighten petals at this point. Set memo board aside to dry several hours or overnight.

Push Pins:

1.    Punch circles from Basic Grey scraps.  (I chose to make three pushpins for this board.)

2.    Place one drop of Dimensional Magic on the paper.

3.    Place flat side of glass glob/page pebble on circle and press so that the Dimensional Magic spreads to the edges of the circle.  Let dry.

4.    When dry, use E6000 to attach thumbtack to back side of glob.

5.    Push into Flower memo board.
