Label Maker Accents
By
Becky Lemire
All the rage right now is the Label Maker accents and titles. If you have one of those old-fashioned label makers with no label tape left, have no fear. You can load up that old label maker with strips of cardstock, papers, and vellum. Cut these various papers into 3/8" strips and try it. The cardstock works very well in the label maker and results in a fabulous embossed strip of words. The words can be made to stand out by rubbing chalks or metallic rub ons over the letters. Vellum looks fabulous when sent through the label maker and leaves nice white embossed letters that stand out perfectly. In this project, I used cardstock and metallic rub ons to make perfectly simple accents for my Autumn page. Supplies: Charcoal Leaves
rubber stamp set (TAC) Instructions1. Prepare all papers as directed in the supplies. Sand the pieces of orange cardstock to distress slightly. 2. Tear the dark orange cardstock as shown in photo. Layer and adhere matching up edges and corners over the lighter orange 12" x 12" piece of cardstock. See photo. 3. Ink up leaf stamps with Burnt Umber ink and stamp randomly around the edges and corners of the dark orange cardstock pressing lightly.
4.
Stamp alphabet stamps, using the Burnt Umber inkpad, spelling out
"Autumn" onto the 1" x 5-1/2" piece of lighter orange cardstock 5. Using a needle tool, poke three holes about an 1-1/4" apart on the torn edge of the dark orange cardstock toward the bottom right side of the page (see photo) and three holes opposite them on the torn edge of the other piece of dark orange cardstock. Place ribbon (folding the ends over to leave a clean edge) over the hole and poke the leaf brad through and fasten on the back side of the page. Repeat for the opposite side of the ribbon and the other two ribbons. Tie a 3" piece of the same ribbon to the center of the ribbon you just placed across the torn papers; trim ends. 6. Open the label maker and remove the label tape that comes with it. Feed the 3/8" strip of olive green cardstock into the label maker until you can see the cardstock coming out the top. Punch the letters into the cardstock making the words that you are going to use. Leave a couple of spaces between words. When you are done making your word labels, use metallic rub ons to highlight the raised/embossed letters. 7. Tear the right side of each word and layer and adhere the words onto the 1/2" strip of garden green cardstock, leaving enough space to place a leaf brad on the left side of the word. Tear the right side of the garden green cardstock also. Repeat for all words. 8. Place words on the lower left side of the page and using a needle tool, poke holes in the left side of each word and put leaf brads through the holes. 9. Adhere the photo to the slightly larger olive green cardstock and then to the slightly larger piece of garden green cardstock. Lay title on the left side of photo, poke hole through the top of the title, and place leaf brad through and fasten. Adhere this entire piece to the top center of the page.
