Label It!

By Nancy Leimer
Rubber Roadsters
Advanced Stamping Team Designer

Any type of label can be used for this project, and the choice is yours.  This technique can be applied to invitations, gift cards, or anywhere you have room to place the labels.  The labels can, also, be used in combinations for interesting effects.

Supplies:

•  Lion Stamp (Taylored Artwork)
•  Southwest Background Stamp (CTMH)
•  Brown Stamp Pad (Vivid)
•  Black Stamp Pad (Memories)
•  Eggplant Stamp Pad (Colorbox)
•  Buttercup Cardstock; 8 ½ ” x 11” (CTMH)
•  Copper Wire- 2 Pieces 10” long (Unknown)
•  Three Labels - (Old Tractor Feed) - (Trash)
•  Misc. Assorted Beads – Long and Small Round (Unknown)
•  Personal Paper Trimmer (Fiskars)
•  Hole Punch (Gem 1/8”)

Instructions:

    1. Cut the Buttercup Cardstock in half to equal 8” x 5 ½ ”.  Fold in half to size 4 Ό ” x 5 ½ ”.

    2. Open the brown and black ink stamp pads.  Use the Southwest Background stamp and ink half the design with brown and the other half with black. Making sure that inks overlap.  Center on folded cardstock and stamp. Set aside to dry.

    1. Using the Lion stamp, ink with the Eggplant ink.  Leave the labels on the tracking paper and stamp; making sure that the lion is centered in the three labels.  (Don’t worry about the empty spaces between the labels.  This is the look we want.) Set aside to dry.

    1. Make two holes in the cardstock centered and down about one inch from the top.  These holes will be used for the wire trim. See photo.

    1. Do not remove the tracking paper from the labels; it must be rolled back gently.  Mark the cardstock approximately in the center where the center label will be placed.  The position is centered on the cardstock and down about one half inch from punched holes. Refer to photo.  Start by rolling back the tracking paper behind the labels at the top of the lion’s head.  Once the tops of the labels have been exposed position the ends onto the cardstock where marked.  When the ends are secured to the cardstock, gently begin pulling backing from labels making sure that the labels are pressed onto the cardstock.

    1. Take the copper wire and twist together in the center. Thread the wire through the hole from the back.  Twist together.  Add a long bead to each of the wires; this is the beginning of your design. Continue adding beads until you have filled the wires and have created the design you want.  Using pliers make a loop at the end of each piece of wire to secure the beads.  Now twist wires into a shape that compliments your card.
