Shake it up Baby! Shaker Card

Karen Gibson
Rubber Roadsters
Advanced
Stamping Team Designer

Supplies:

These interaction cards are so much fun to create and receive.  Use a punch to create the opening for the shaker or cut out a larger stamp image to form the shaker.

Don’t limit yourself to micro beads for the filler. Try using smaller beads, punch out shapes, glitter or confetti. I recently saw a wedding card that used rice for the shaker. There is no end to what you can use for the shaker elements!

Supplies:

Stamp Sets - Office Ephemera, Print Pattern, Collage Alphabet (Stampin’ Up!)
Dye Inkpads - Really Rust, Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip  (Stampin’ Up!)
˝ sheet cardstock – Creamy Caramel (Stampin’ Up!)
2 pieces of cardstock cut 3”x3” – Very Vanilla (Stampin’ Up!)
  3 ˝” x 3 ˝” cardstock – Really Rust (Stampin’ Up!)
Scrap of Really Rust and Very Vanilla for layering (Stampin’ Up)
  Window sheet (acetate) cut 3”x3”
  Clear micro beads
  Mono-adhesive
  Foam tape
  Black check gingham ribbon
Coluzzle cutting mat, blade and circle template

Instructions:

Think of the shaker as a sandwich. There is a top piece, filling (foam tape and beads) and the bottom stamped piece.

1.    Center Coluzzle circle template over one of the 3”x3” Very Vanilla squares. Cut a circle in the center of cardstock. Stamp the cut out square.

2.    Turn the cardstock over and apply mono-adhesive to the back add window sheet.

3.    Add foam tape to all four sides window sheet. Make sure there are no gaps to allow your beads to escape! I have found it easier to add the foam tape to the top and bottom, and then add foam tape to the sides.

4.    Stamp the second piece of 3”x3” cardstock. Remember to center the image since it will be showing through the window that was created on the first 3”x3” piece.

5.    Remove the foam tape backing and add the micro beads. I used about one teaspoon full.

6.    Carefully place the stamped 3”x3” piece of cardstock, stamped side down on the foam tape. Make sure it is firmly adhered. Now just for fun give your shaker a shake!

7.    Layer the shaker onto Really Rust cardstock set aside.

8.    Fold the ˝ sheet of cardstock in half and stamp.  Refer to photo. Stamp the ink pen and the word “WRITE” on top of it. Layer on Really Rust cardstock.

9.    Tape the shaker and pen to the cardstock and add the checked ribbon.
