Paper Quilting With A Machine By
Terri Doney
Supplies: Instructions: 1. To make the background, cut strips of green and tan Slab V papers into 3” wide by 6” long strips and put aside a piece of light tan cardstock. Attach them together on light tan cardstock with a bit of adhesive on the center of the quilted pieces and then sew them with a coordinating thread color to obtain a quilted appearance. Each piece was individually sewn on which can be a bit tricky. However, with a bigger the machine, it is easier to turn the cardstock while you are sewing. I did each page of my 2 page layout the same way. I attached a piece of twill tape at the top of the quilted pieces on each side making the page look even more like fabric. Once it was to my liking, I set it aside. 2. Trim photos as desired and attach them to black cardstock. Cut a thin mat using the perfect layers system. Double mat focal point pictures on tan Slab V paper. Attach matted photos to pages and set aside. 3. Punch the bottle cap circle punch into light tan cardstock 8 times using the Quickutz hand tool. Using the corner of the distressing inkpad, I applied ink around the outside of the circles to give them a grunge look. Use the same ink and the Making Memories magnetic alphabet stamps to stamp my Run, Jump, Play, Yeah, Tag, You, Are, and It words inside the circles; set aside. Taking the outside bottle cap punch, punch 4 bottle caps out of each color of slab, green and tan. Attach the circles to the bottle cap punch-outs and use the corner of the distress inkpad to ink the edges of bottle cap punch-outs. Attach to each quilted square and add alpha page pebbles to the top. If you would like to print this technique including a near-full size image of the layout, click here.
