By Becky Lemire

Intermediate Stamping Team Designer

Supplies:

• Sophisticated Flowers Rubber Stamp Set (TAC)
• Sunwashed Red Chalk Ink Pad (TAC)
• Guadalupe Chalk Ink Pad (TAC)
• Decorative Papers (unknown)
    - Rose (speckled and striped) two 1 3/8" squares of each
    - Green (speckled and striped) two 1 3/8" squares of each
    - Tan speckled - cut to 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" and four squares punched out with a 1 3/8" Square punch

• Natural Cardstock (TAC) cut to 5½" x 11½" (folded to a 5½" x 5½" card)
• White Cardstock (Georgia Pacific - Wal*Mart)
• Square Punch 1⅜" (Marvy)
• Acrylic Block - 2" x 2" (TAC)
• Paper Cutter (Carl)
• Natural color thread (Coats & Clark)
• Sewing Machine
• Double sided tape (3M-Scotch)
• Rose-colored ribbon ¼" inch

Instructions:

1.                Cut natural cardstock to a 5 1/2" square card as stated in the supplies list.  Cut tan speckled paper to a 5 1/4" square.  Punch two 1 3/8" squares of each color paper (green speckle, green stripe, rose speckle, rose stripe).  Punch four 1 3/8" squares from the tan speckled cardstock.

2.                Cut the green and rose colored squares into triangles using a paper cutter.  You will have four green stripe, four green speckle, four rose stripe, and four rose speckle triangles.

3.                Stamp flowers and stems on the tan speckle squares as shown in picture using Sunwashed red chalk ink for the flowers and Guadalupe chalk ink for the stems.

4.                Using a small piece of double sided tape, attach a rose speckled triangle on the lower left corner of a piece of white cardstock (right angles matched up).  Attach a stamped tan square centered against the triangle you just attached (see photo).  Attach a rose striped triangle to the lower right side of the stamped square (centered against the square and lined up with the other triangle).  Attach a rose speckled triangle to the top right of the stamped square in the same manner and then the rose striped triangle to the upper left of the stamped square.  Keep the right points of the triangles overlapping the other triangles (see photo).

5.                Repeat with the rest of the rose and green triangles lining up to make a four block square.  See the photo for placement.  Trim the white cardstock so that it is even with your four block square.  The white cardstock is just your base for sewing so you don't want to see it in the final product.

6.                Thread sewing machine with natural thread and set to a small zigzag stitch.  Stitch the four blocks together by running a zigzag stitch where the blocks join.  Tape the loose threads to the back of the piece.  Next stitch around the stamped blocks using a zigzag stitch.  Thread the loose top threads through one of the holes from a prior stitch and tape the front and back loose threads to the back of the piece.  Repeat for the other three stamped squares.

7.                Attach your colored square to the 5 1/4" tan speckled square using double stick tape.  You don't need a lot of tape, just enough to hold the pieces together as the stitching will be securing everything down.  Using a zigzag stitch again, sew the two squares together as shown in photo.  Take care of loose top threads as before.

8.                Using double stick tape, attach the square to the front of the card.  Wrap a ribbon around the front of the card as shown and tie a knot.  Trim ends of ribbon.
