Reinkers Background By
Nancy Leimer This is always a fun technique that produces stunning, one~of~a~kind background designs. Try using a variety of ink colors and see what appealing combinations await you. Make them ahead of time to have on hand like patterned paper! Supplies
Instructions 1. Cut purple cardstock to size and lay aside. 2. Cut glossy cardstock into 4 pieces measuring 4 Ό x 5 ½. 3. Cut white cardstock into 2 pieces measuring 5 ½ x 8 ½. 4. Lay newspapers down to protect you work surface. Lay opened report cover on newspapers. Apply several drops of the reinkers onto one side of the report cover. Close the report cover and begin to use brayer to mix the reinkers into colors that you like. Continue using the brayer on the report cover until it is completely covered with ink. 4. Put two pieces of the glossy cardstock face to face with glossy side out. Open the report cover gently and inset the glossy cardstock and close the cover. The brayer can be used to apply ink on the cardstock or use finger to press colors on the cardstock. Dont completely cover the cardstock with ink; leave some areas uncovered to add depth and interest. Remove the cardstock from the report cover and allow to dry. 5. Once the glossy cardstock is dry, attach it using glue to the 8 ½ x 5 ½ cardstock which has been folded in half to equal 4 Ό x 5 ½ . 6. Use the Kokopelli stamp with the black ink and apply to the glossy inked cardstock. Immediately cover with clear embossing powder. Shake off the excess powder and emboss with the heat gun. 7. Next, take the piece of purple cardstock and lay flat. On a paper towel, add a small amount of bleach to make a stamp pad. Dip the lizard stamp into the bleach and then stamp the purple cardstock and allow to dry. Once the bleach has dried on the purple cardstock, use the Krylon pen to add a gold border to the edge of the cardstock. Allow to dry and then add pink jewel using the glue. 8. Add the yarn in three different directions starting at the right lower corner. Glue the yarn to the glossy cardstock. Put pop dots on the back of the purple cardstock and cover the place where the three pieces of yarn started. 9. Add pink star jewel to upper right had corner between two pieces of the yarn and glue in place. If you would like to print this technique, click here.
