Victorian Card Shape Series - Victorian Lady’s BagBy
Barbara Kipper Suggestions for embellishment and paper styles: Since this bag is a simple shape, the use of patterned paper or stamps can be varied and interesting. This bag is perfect for a birthday card using a friend’s favorite colors. Red Hatters would love this card in striking red and purple with a jewel closure! Striped paper may be used. Try an exotic look with leopard skin print paper and a closure using an animal button. How about using fabric as the outside of the card? Glue it onto the cardstock pattern. Add some lace. Have fun with these little bag cards! Use your imagination and share your cards on Rubber Road Adventures! Supplies: • Pink
Cardstock; 5½" x 8½" Instructions: Printed Paper or Wall Paper Bag (shown) 1. Cut two patterns, one plain pink card stock and one patterned paper. 2. Glue plain and patterned pieces together. 3. Using a décor scissors cut a small paper circle about the size of a nickel, of a coordinating plain paper. This is used as a “rosette” under the button on the bag trim “closure.” Adjust the “rosette” size to the button size. 4. Fold the bag in half on the dotted line, with the plain pink inside. 5. Fold the top of the bag over from the back to front. See example. 6. Glue a double bow of ribbon to the top of the bag, which is the back of the card folded over the front section. 7. Glue the “rosette” paper circle over the bow. 8. Glue the button over the “rosette” circle of paper completing the “closure” of the bag trim. Stamped Bag (not shown) Follow the same sequence to construct your card, as the patterned paper, but choose stamped images to cover the paper that will be used as the outside of the card. This gives you many options of style for the bag card. Templates included in printable PDF file linked to below. If you would like to print this technique, click here.
