Paper Perfect Embellishments

By Wanda Troupe
Hot Rod Scrampers
Advanced Scramping Team Designer

Paper PerfectTM by DecoArt is a paint that creates the look of handmade paper when dry. It can be mixed with glitter, fiber or dried flowers for different looks and textures. The paint needs at least 24 hours drying time, so unless you have some made up ahead of time you have to plan ahead to use it. Paper PerfectTM can be applied with a palette knife or brush to all kinds of hard surfaces, which allows it to conform to whatever shape you are using. It comes in eight different colors, is acid and lignin free and non-toxic. Feel free to safely use this product on your layouts! More information can be found at the manufacturer’s website.

 Supplies:

  • Shell Stamps (TAC)
  • Alphas (TAC, Provo Craft)
  • Sea Grass, Ships Wheel (Lasting Impressions with Panache)
  • Distress Inkpads: Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Antique Linen (Ranger)
  • Noir Black Palette inkpad (Stewart Superior)
  • 12”x12” Blue Background cardstock (Die Cuts with a View)
  • 12”x12” White cardstock (unknown)
  • 8˝”x11” Tan cardstock (unknown)
  • White & Mocha Paper Perfect Paint (DecoArt)
  • White Acrylic Paint (Plaid)
  • Label Buddy Embosser (Dymo)
  • Silver Dolphin Nailheads (unknown)
  • Transparency (HammerMill)
  • 1” Square Punch (Creative Memories)
  • 2” paintbrush
  • Sea sponge

 Instructions:

    1. Lightly dry-brush top of background paper with white acrylic paint.

    2. Line up photos, side by side, on white cardstock. Tear top and bottom edges. Glue to background leaving about 1-1/2” at top for title.

    3. Tear pieces of tan cardstock for layers of sand at bottom of background. Stamp sea grass using Tea Dye Distress inkpad all over tan cardstock. Masking bottom of image, stamp ship’s wheel to look like it’s buried in the sand. Sponge “sand” background with Antique Linen ink and sea sponge. Add seashells as desired and glue.

    4. Create a collage sheet from leftover tan cardstock using seashell images and script. Stamp letters in Vintage Photo ink. Punch out letters using square punch. Sponge edges with Vintage Photo ink. Glue to background above matted photos.

    5. Print out “breeze” on transparency sheet. (I used the Suzanne Quill font downloaded from the Internet.) Trim and place to the left of “OCEAN” blocks, layering left side under the “N” to glue. Attached top right corner with dolphin nailheads.

    6. Attach nailhead under “OCEAN” and to the right on white border beneath photos.

    7. Emboss date with Label Buddy and place to the left on white mat under photos. Stamp name in black in to the right of dolphin nailhead.
