Radiant Pearl Batik

By Betti Geis
Crafty Cruisers
Intermediate Stamping Team Designer

Supplies:
Reminisce Stamps  (Tac)
China Blue and Dainty Daffodil Radiant pearls (LuminArte)
Noir Black Palette Ink- (Stewart Superior)
Teal Card stock
Teal organdy 3/8" ribbon
Pop can “pop top”
Gold Leafing Pen – Krylon
Mono Adhesive (Tombow)
Freezer wrap
Brayer with rubber attachment – (Speedball)
Water bottle with spritzer

Instructions

1. Cut a piece of freezer wrap.

2. Pour a small amount (¼ tsp.) of radiant pearls on the freezer wrap starting with the China blue.

3. Cut Ultra Smooth card stock to size 5”x 4”.

4. Cut Turquoise card stock to size 8 ½” x 5 ½” .

5. Brayer the China Blue all over the card stock.

6. Crumple up in a tight wad.

7. Spritz well with water so it is a bit damp and fragile (you want to break down the fibers just a bit).

8. Open it back up and smooth out gently to prevent tearing then lay face down on the freezer wrap with the China Blue ink on it. Brayer well to absorb the pigment into the card stock.

9. Place some of the Dainty Daffodil on freezer wrap and pick up the color on the brayer. Roll the color over the China blue just to highlight some areas.

10. Iron the cardstock so it will lay flat (use a hot dry iron with scrap paper over your finished background).  It will maintain the wrinkled distressed look, which is what you want.

11. When it is completely dry, stamp images in a collage fashion.

12. Paint the “pop top” with the gold leafing pen – let dry.

13. Thread the organdy ribbon through the pop top (like a belt).

14. Adhere ribbon to back of white card stock.

15. Mount to the turquoise cardstock.
