Slider Cards ~ Twin Image ©

By Barbara Kipper
Rubber Roadsters
Advanced Stamping Team Designer

A Slider Channel is cut out of the front of the card, with an image set onto it.  Slider Channels may be created horizontally, vertically, or at an angle.  This directs the use, placement, and shape of the Slider card image. This process will allow the image to slide up and down or in any direction within the channel on the front of the card. Two pennies or two flat washers act as small horizontal wheels to ride within the channel.  Inside the card another (twin) image travels along the same Slider Channel.

Using Clear Embossing Ink, Stamp Love, Joy, and etc. stamp, onto White Card Stock.

8. Next, work on the inside right of the card.  Using Clear Embossing Ink, cover the small hearts and text stamped surface.  Mask off the text part (Love, Joy, and etc.) stamp with masking tape. Remove the mask as you re-ink and replace the masking tape over the text before you stamp.  Stamp three times on the right upper inside of the card, following the card example. (You may prefer to emboss after each stamping).

9. Sprinkle all stamped images with Sterling Cranberry Embossing Powder, tap off, and save excess powder.

10. Melt the Embossing Powder with the heat tool.

11. Using Clear Embossing Ink, stamp Heart Cats image once above the stamping of the smaller hearts following the card example.

12. Sprinkle the stamped images with Sterling Cranberry Embossing Powder; tap off and save excess powder.

13. Melt the Embossing Powder with the heat tool.

14. Cut out the two Heart Cats images leaving a small margin of the paper around the image.

15. Cut out the text stamped image using the same method following the card example.

16. Using Red Glossy Paper scrap, draw around the cut out Heart Cat image two times.

17. Cut out the two heart shaped images leaving a 1/8” margin around the heart shape.

18. Glue the two Heart Cat images onto the two Red Glossy Paper hearts.

19. Glue the text stamped image to the rectangle of Red Glossy Paper.

20. Glue the Text section to the front of the card following the card example.

Cutting the Slider Channel and attaching the wheel:

1. On the front of the card, use the bottom line of the top stamped heart as your guide. Start the lightly drawn pencil line to the left so the channel will be equal on each side of the tip of the heart.  Lightly draw an angle that will fit from the bottom of the top heart to just inside the bottom tip of the third heart. Measure 3/8” to the right of that marked angle and lightly mark in several spots. Follow the markings and lightly draw in the angel line.

2. Using your Craft Knife, follow the marked angle line. Cut from the top heart to just inside the third heart.  Do not cut through the third heart’s lowest stamped edge. Cut again on the other side of the slider channel as marked. Next, cut along the top heart just under the stamped tip to form a point of the slider channel and again just inside the third heart point to finish cutting the slider channel.

3. Remove the cut section from the cardstock.

4. Erase any pencil lines on the card.

5. Using two pennies or two 5/8” flat washers, place a Pop-up Dot on one penny/washer and place the second penny/washer on the dot. Place the penny/washer into the Slider Channel. They will move up and down the channel. Each metal part will act as a small horizontal wheel, riding within this channel.

6. Place a Pop Up Dot onto the upper side of the penny/washer and attach the Heart Cat image that has been glued to the Red Glossy Heart. Repeat this step on the inside penny/washer, with the Heart Cat image. The “twin” hearts will slide up and down the channel together.

7.  When the card is completed, add the final embellishments.

Following the card example, glue the 7 sequin hearts inside the card and 5 sequin hearts on the front of the card.

8. Edge the inside and outside of the card with the Red Sharpie Marker.
