Beeswax Collage

 Supplies

  • Assortment of Rubber Stamps (Art by Moonlight)
  • Jet Black StazOn Ink (Tsukineko)
  • 4” x 6” Wooden Frame (Provo Craft)
  • Clover Mini Iron #MCI-900 (Clover Needlecraft)
  • Bronze, Gold & Clear Encaustic Wax (Encausticart)
  • Beeswax pellets  (found in the candle-making section of craft stores)
  • Sewing Pattern (Club Stamp)
  • White Cardstock (TAC)
  • Glue Pot (Nicole)
  • Disposable foam brushes
  • Disposable latex gloves
     

CAUTION:  Melted beeswax is very hot and sticky – Use extreme care!

 

Instructions
 

  1. Melt beeswax pellets in the glue pot.
  2. Preheat the Clover Mini Iron.
  3. Stamp images on white cardstock with Jet Black StazOn Ink.
  4. Tear the sewing pattern into strips.
  5. Wearing latex gloves, use the disposable foam brush to coat the sewing pattern strips with beeswax and place randomly on picture frame. 
  6. Coat the stamped images with beeswax and position accordingly on picture frame. 
  7. Allow to cool completely before handling.
  8. Melt clear Encaustic Wax on the tip of the iron and use it to smooth any edges that aren’t flush with the surface of the frame.
  9. Melt bronze and gold Encaustic Wax and apply to surface of frame as well as the inside and outside edges of the frame.
