Party Favor Fun – Dry Embossing on Vellum

By Cheryl Hurttgam
Crafty Cruisers

Intermediate Stamping Team Designer

Supplies

Rose Sentiments Stamp Set (TAC)
Snow White Dye Ink Pad (TAC)
Stylus (TAC)
1/8” Wonder Tape (Suze Weinberg~TAC)
4.25” x 5.5” piece of card stock vellum (unknown)
Piece of dark fun foam (unknown)
1/8” hole punch (Fiskars)
9” of red ribbon
Red candies (M&M’s, Red Hots, etc.)

Instructions

1.    Stamp rose from Rose Sentiments set in white ink onto the vellum off center and close to the bottom.

2.    Place the vellum onto the fun foam and trace the lines of the stamped image with the larger ball of the stylus.  Press firmly, but not hard, as you will cut through the paper.

3.    Run a length of the Wonder Tape on one of the 4.25” sides of the vellum and trim.  Take off the backing from tape and roll the vellum around attaching one edge to the taped edge.  This will create a tube.

4.    Pinch the lower end of the tube so that the rose is facing upwards.

5.    Measure a piece of Wonder Tape to fit inside of the tube’s bottom edge and seal.

6.    Fill the tube with candies. Leave enough room at the top so the tube can be sealed shut.

7.    Pinch the upper end of the tube the opposite way from the bottom edge.

8.    Measure another piece of Wonder Tape to fit inside of the tube’s top edge and seal.

9.    Punch 2 holes at the bottom of the now finished favor.

10.           Lace ribbon through the holes and tie into a bow.

These favors can be used for a lot of different events or holidays.

Red for Valentine’s Day, colored almonds for weddings, candy corn for Halloween, etc.  I learned this technique from Angi Healy.
